Magnificent, fully hand-carved wooden sculpture depicting a proud Tyrolean hunter holding his pipe aloft, with a rifle slung across his shoulder and his quarry (a chamois or mountain goat) lying at his feet. The figure is captured in a dynamic pose with an expressive face and fine detailing throughout β from the feathered hat and traditional jacket to the carved boots and rocky base.
A superb example of Alpine folk art from the Val Gardena (GrΓΆden) region of South Tyrol, Italy, crafted around the late 19th to early 20th century.
